Reading About Delightful Rug Pads
With the addition of a rug pad, that friction and wear and tear is slowed down, thus extending the life of your rug. Obviously this is like rug pads. Although the rug is what you see on the surface, there is much more that goes into the actual installation process. A rug pad can serve the same purpose for your rug.
The rug pad adds another layer of cushioning to make your walk across the rug even more comforting. A rug pad helps significantly – if you have an open cell pad, it will trap the dirt and hold it away from the rug. But has little, or nothing, to do with area rug pads usually. After all, once your rug is in place there is no possible way to determine with 100 percent accuracy as to if the right pad was used.
Rug pads not only protect wall-to-wall carpet, but they also protect hardwood flooring and tiles. What about safety? Have you ever walked on a rug – especially on a runner – and have it slip underneath you? Have you ever tripped on a curled up edge of a rug walking into a room? In these days of ready law-suits, the last thing you want is a hazard waiting to happen – most importantly to keep you and your family safe, but also to prevent unfortunate accidents for guests. This is similar to Oriental rug pads frequently. There is nothing worse than a rug that is not laying flush on the ground.
This is an extra bonus for those of us that are especially sensitive to these types of bacteria and it’s nice to know that the rug pads in our home prevent bacteria even if we aren’t especially sensitive. There are even special types of open cell rug pads for use over floors that have radiant heating to allow heat to freely flow up through the pad and rug. Finally, a quality pad will also make your rug more comfortable to walk on.
Rug pads reduce the number of falls and slips. You don’t want the rug pad to show, so it should be cut to be at least 1/2″ smaller all the way around. It is better to be safe than sorry. The benefits of rug pads far exceed the inexpensive price of acquiring them as they are very affordable.
